Founded in 1995, the DADS ARE DOING SOMETHING program helps school districts recruit and activate positive male role models to create lasting educational impact. Through a relaunch of this successful program, we're building stronger schools and brighter futures for all students.
The educational landscape has been dramatically transformed since 2020. Children who entered kindergarten during the pandemic are now in fifth grade, carrying the weight of disrupted early education experiences.
An alarming trend has emerged: parental involvement in elementary schools has plummeted to levels typically seen only in high schools. This reverses the traditional pattern where parent engagement is strongest in early grades and gradually declines.
The consequences are profound. Research shows that when parents withdraw from school participation, student achievement drops by up to 30%, discipline issues increase, and teacher retention suffers.
School districts urgently need innovative strategies to rebuild the parent-school connection. Without immediate intervention, an entire generation faces educational disadvantages that could follow them into adulthood.
Bringing positive male role models directly into school environments where they can make the greatest difference.
Enhancing educational outcomes through consistent, quality male engagement across all student activities.
Building robust community support systems that empower students to reach their full potential.
A growing coalition of volunteer male mentors spanning schools across the country.
Fathers, uncles, grandfathers, and community leaders from all walks of life.
Dedicated men united by a shared commitment to student achievement and well-being.

Extensive educational research demonstrates that active male involvement creates transformative impacts on student achievement across all demographic groups. When dedicated male role models consistently engage in educational environments, students experience measurable benefits including heightened academic motivation, significantly narrowed achievement gaps, and demonstrably stronger college readiness and career outcomes. These positive effects extend beyond academics to improved social-emotional development and school climate.

Our program has successfully transformed schools in communities nationwide. Here are some of our past chapter locations:
